Краткое описание

Adultery is typical of a weak person. It seems to me that adultery is considered to be an absolutely negative action. Needless to say, that it is just a betrayal, stab in the back and it can not be forgiven. To my mind a person with a strong mind will never be unfaithful to the man, with whom he or she shares the fate.

Actually the theme of adultery is very popular and widespread among writers all over the world. I have tried to recollect some works of Russian writers. And sometimes the author does not give the terrible attitude to adultery, he just leaves the reader an opportunity to judge the situation to the extent of the person’s thoughts. For example, the adultery of Katerina Kabanova in “The Storm” by Alexander Nikolayevich Ostrovsky is very ambiguously and it probably has a mixed reception. Naturally, different people have different opinions, and especially when it is about reading between the lines.

My Personal Interpretation of Cases of Adultery in Works of Russian Writers

It may well be that some readers find Katerina’s adultery as a brave deed, a desperate attempt to withstand those oppressive and unfavourable circumstances. To my way of thinking, Katerina’s behaviour is inadmissible and it shows us only her inadequate personality. I am inclined to believe that the well-established and forceful person regards adultery as inconceivable action in any case. The striking personality has two ways, the first - is to bare all circumstances and to try developing himself or herself in spite of current events. And as far as I concerned, the second way is to have the courage to change your life and to be honest and to tell the truth before accomplishing any actions.

The story of Tatyana Larina in “Eugene Onegin” by Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin demonstrates the reader strong and truly mature personality. Tatyana Larina dares to reveal her feelings to the beloved - Eugene Onegin, but she turns out that she loves him without requital. Unfortunately, Tatyana is married off a man, whom she experiences no passion, no infatuation and even no warm feelings at all. And when some years later Eugene Onegin makes Larina a declaration of love, she admits that his feeling is reciprocal, but she is intend to preserve fidelity. We can easily find these lines the novel,

I love you (why should I deceive you?)

But I am given to another now,

And I will eternally keep my vow.

In my view, it is a smart and brilliant move, which ennobles Tatyana Larina. It is quite possible that some readers find her action not in this way; but they just see that Tatyana does not ready to change her quiet and high living for the moment of true love.

Taking everything into, I still regard the adultery as a completely bad and horrible thing. It is my firm belief that when any person commits adultery, he or she first of all, stops being true to himself or herself. Obviously, this act indicates that the person has no strength of will and even no strength of mind. This person not just betrays the nearest man, but also shows his or her brutish instinct and becomes a nonentity. I am convinced that a person should vow loyalty only if he or she has enough courageous to stay faithful until the last gun is fired.
