Huge role in the life of every person plays - rest. One of a kind vacation is entertainment. For example, teatret, film and television.

People have always liked visiting theaters for relaxing, entertaining and just having a good time. Theater is one of the best means of art and entertainment, which brings cultural enrichment. It uses live performers on stage to express different plays. From the times of its appearance theater has changed a lot. There were especially many transformations in modern times. The only genres seen in the theater of ancient times were tragedy and comedy, whereas nowadays there are lots of contemporary genres and styles. Even the types of theaters vary from classical to musical lines.

Cinema is one of the best types of art and cinematography is considered to be one of the rare wonders. It has appeared in the end of the 19th century. Cinema is a combination of different types of art: music, theater, literature, painting and else. Every decade has brought something new for the cinema. For example, in the 30-s the main genres were musicals, gangster stories, mute comedies and horror films. The 70-s were the times of political movies and French comedies. The 90-s brought lots of westerns and spy films. Whereas, nowadays, we have so many new genres, among them thrillers, adventure films, underground, science fiction and many others. People have always liked going to the cinema. It was a perfect idea for a date. Besides, cinema was the only place where people could see new films. Today we have all kinds of possibilities. We can watch new movies in the cinema, on TV, on DVDs, online and else. Before the appearance of DVDs, people used to watch films on video tapes, which is now considered to be a bit old-fashioned. Cinema is also a powerful force in contemporary life.

It is common knowledge that television has become the most popular entertainment in our home life. Now fewer and fewer people go out in the evening, preferring to stay at home and enjoy themselves sitting in comfortable armchairs in front of TV-screens and watching either “live” TV or films on video. In Russia people can choose among lots of channels. Some of them are commercial: they are Discovery, Travel Channel or CNN in English. The others, such as Russia 1, belong to the federal government. A great number of central channels make their viewers watch advertisements, as the main part of the money they get, comes from advertising. So between and during programmes we have to watch advertisements for chewing-gum, soap, washing-machines, detergents and many other items we do not require at the moment.
