The most common organizational structure is called the functional structure where each person has their place in a fixed hierarchy. The main benefit of this system is clear lines of communication from top to bottom. But it can also be a bureaucratic system.
Many companies are now organized along product lines, in which each division is responsible for a group of products. In this case the focus is always on the product and how it can be improved.
